First Order Second Order Questions
·
Q1. characterize elbow’s “1st order thinking” and “2nd order thinking” in your own words.
First order thinking is a
freewriting way of thinking. This usually is the most creative driven thought
process and you should not concern or edit these thoughts while writing otherwise
you will start to become more second order driven while writing. The positives
of this style are the creative lanes you may never have reach if you didn’t start
writing your stream of consciousness. It is important to remember that this
style of writing usually needs heavy revising but can also become the best
result in the end. Second order thinking is usually more focused and what you
kind of expect when you start writing a paper for school. You are usually
concerned what others may think this paper so the writer tends to make the paper
appeasing to the reader of the future. This style of writing is very organized
but sometimes lacks the creativity that can be brought out from the first order
thinking process.

Q2. can you think of any instances in which you do either of these
in your own life?
I usually use second order thinking when replying to a customer
request to appease the customer. This type of response is usually straightforward
and does not usually use much first order thinking in its nature. I tend to use
first order thinking when I was told to write a children’s book for an English class
as thinking creatively is a great way to keep and entertain a child as they are
big critics of the story being fun.
